Privacy Policy
Last updated 13 August 2026
TierOne is a third-party client for GroupMe. It runs entirely on your device. There is no TierOne server, no account to create, and no analytics, telemetry, advertising, or third-party tracking of any kind.
What TierOne stores, and where
- Your GroupMe access token is stored in the device Keychain. It never leaves your device except as the authentication header on requests to GroupMe itself.
- Display details — your GroupMe name, ID and avatar URL — are kept in local app preferences so the app can show who is signed in. None of this grants access to anything.
- Read state — how far you have read in each conversation — is kept locally.
- Messages and images are cached on the device so the app does not re-download them. Files you open from a conversation are written to a temporary folder that the system clears.
Where your data goes
TierOne talks to exactly two outside services, both only as you use it:
- GroupMe (a Microsoft service) — everything you would expect a GroupMe client to send and receive: your conversations, messages you post, and reactions. Your use of GroupMe is governed by Microsoft's own privacy policy and terms.
- GIPHY — when you search for a GIF, your search text is sent to GIPHY to get results. GIPHY is not told who you are, and no search is sent unless you type one.
Nothing is sent anywhere else. TierOne's developer receives no data from the app and cannot see your messages.
Diagnostics
TierOne keeps a local diagnostic log on the device to help investigate problems. It is never uploaded automatically. If you choose to send it, you are sharing it deliberately, and you can read it first.
Deleting your data
Signing out removes the stored token. Deleting the app removes everything else TierOne has kept. Neither affects your GroupMe account or its contents — those live with GroupMe, and you can manage them in the official app.
Children
TierOne is not directed at children and collects nothing about anyone. GroupMe sets its own minimum age for its service.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it.
